KP115 Smart Plug suddenly constant clicking on and off see video inside
Hi all I currently own a dozen or more KP115 smart plugs dotted all around the house no issues for around 18 months until Tuesday this week when out of nowhere I could hear a clicking sound upon inspection it was coming from one of the smart plugs, unplugged it and tested it in another socket same issue tried hard reset / factory reset nothing helped, anyways on to today and again another clicking sound and you guessed it upon inspection yet another KP115 smart plug just clicking away so had to remove it.
Scary thing is the fact that they are turning on and off over and over at a very fast rate this could potentially damage whatever you have plugged in or maybe even be a fire hazzard.
What I would like to know is has anyone else had this issue what was done to fix it, did you RMA or just throw it away?
At this moment I am worried about continuing to use the other plugs I have around the house just in case this happens again and I am not around to unplug it.

We can add another to the list as I discovered this happening to one of my Tapo plugs this morning (P110).
I have 5 Kasa plugs and 2 Tapo plugs. I don't know if there is any similarity in hardware between the brands because I've had no problems with the Kasa plugs, and now both Tapo devices have failed.
The first one is permanently on now and will not cut power, regardless what the switch is set to (it still toggles but makes no difference). I discovered the second doing the behaviour described above in my office this morning. It appears it could have been ticking on and off continuously for nearly two days which is worrying because it powers three devices (power to one device then two others running via USB). I'm just hoping no damage was done.
Really disappointed in TP-Link who I've used for various networking products over the years. Let's hope the Tapo lights I have are a bit more robust.

@keypickles I've just lost 2 115s in as many week, constant clicking turning off and on, I bought 4 of them about 3 years ago. So I've replaced one of them with a brand new 105, well it's been boxed up on my self for 2 years, so will see if that' will do any better. One of the 115s that failed wasn't even used but it was plugged I. .

@GordonFreeman I have had exactly the same issue. It started yesterday a day after a firmware update clicking every minute or so, then got progressively worse until it's now clicking continuously. I thought I had a problem with my smart TV then remembered I had it plugged in via a KP115! So annoying.

im having the same problem with my EP25 plugs from Kasa. Rapid continuous clicking with light flashing, 3 or 4 clicks per second, nothing plugged in, factory reset doesn't work. Has T-P link commented on or addressed this?

G'day folks,
Just chiming in to add to the list of people dealing with this. I've just had my first one die in the same fashion discussed by others here. Started with the occasional click and after turning it off last night and back on this morning it is now in rapid clicking mode. This is one of the older KP115 Kasa plugs that I have four of, with a bunch of Tapo P110's and P100's dotted about the house that I have purchased over the past 12-18 months.
I will likely be switching these units out to use on less critical appliances and gradually replace them as they die. I certainly won't be buying any more of them though.

I have 1 of these that is now constantly clicking, it was running a security camera, that seems to be okay at this point. 100% failure rate at my place. All my other units are the older bulky ones that are still going strong. Is TP-Link replacing these failed units?

@thewatcher No they are not since they are outside of warranty. But since they are failing in a predictable manner time after time, the design is clearly very poor and I will never byy a smart pluig from TP Links range again.

They were going to replace the failed unit, but I had to ship it back ot their repair centre at my own cost. Rather buy another product that I know wont fail again in a few weeks / Months. Very disappointing, but I am just glad that it didnt fry the appliance it was plugged into.

I woud think if they are under warrenty then they can be replaced, all of mine that failed were not under warrenty so i never bothered contacting Kasa, i do have somw Tapo ones now too so ill see how they do. I think all the ones that have failed on me have had the energy monitor on them, i think, but not sure if thats related, im guessing the ones that dont have the monitoring fail too.
