Tapo C200 - Issues after FW upgrade
Tapo C200 - Issues after FW upgrade
good morning,
I have 5 Tapo C200 cameras:
1 camera: hardware version 2.0, firmware version 1.1.19
4 cameras: hardware version 1.0, firmware version 1.1.18
Recently the 5 cameras received an automatic update. After the update the cameras became unstable. They are appearing randomically OFF-LINE (1 camera at time, for all the cameras) in the Tapo app on my mobile and if i try to reach them directly (e.g. through VLC at rtsp://userid:pwd@192.168.1.212:554/stream1) I'm not abble to see the stream.
Randomically, after minutes (5-10), they reappear on the TAPO app and the rstp flow is visible on VLC.
It appears randomically 1 camera at time, for all the cameras.
My perception is that after the last FW upgrade the cameras became unstable. The phenomenon never happened with other FW.
Did you notice anything similar for your cameras?
I tried to reset and reconfigure the cameras but the issue continues to appear randomically.
thanks

Solved the issue.
Through the TP-LINK support I was able to downgrade the fw on my 5 Tapo C200 cameras. The system started to work again fine. As it worked before the last fw upgrade.

Hello @Talb
Thank you for reporting the case with case details.
May I know do you use RTSP streaming 24/7 on the camera? If so, it is recommended to run one RTSP or ONVIF software at a time instead of multiple third party software.
To look into it further, can I have some case details :
- Please enable diagnose mode camera, reproduce the issue and help collect the camera log How to Get the Log of Tapo Camera
- When the camera becomes offline in the Tapo APP, how about the LED status on is it Red or solid Green? Or does the camera still show up router network client list or receive an IP from router. Can you ping the camera IP address at that time (this is to see if camera is accessible in the local network)
- the MAC address of a camera which experiences the issue & your TP-Link ID email account ( please share via PM)
Thanks a lot for helping collecting information to solve the case.

hi Solla,
answering to your questions:
1. I use RTSP streaming 24/7 on the camera. But, yes, I run one RTSP or ONVIF software at a time. Anyway nothing changed in my usage of the camera, their behaviour changed after fw upgrade. A question: is there the possibility to go back to the previous fw version. It was fine for my cameras.
2. I enabled diagnose mode. It is asking for an SD card. I have only an SD card and 5 five cameras with the issue. I will monitor only for one of them.
3. When the camera becomes offline in the Tapo APP:
-LED status is solid Green,
- the camera still show up router network client list and receive an IP from router,
- ping is KO (the camera didn't answer).
4. MAC address and my TP-Link ID email account to be sent via PM
thanks bye

Hello @Talb
Thanks for providing all the case details, there isn't a way that I' aware of to downgrade the firmware for C200, but our senior engineer might be able to help with your case.
To better assist with your case, we created a support email TKID220907828 for your case and get it escalated, please check your email inbox.
Please attach the camera log file in that email. Btw, may I know the issue is only Live-streaming, or the camera shows offline in the APP? Thanks.

Hi Solla,
I didn't receive any email. My expectation for a fast solution was a FW downgrade. To much time for your R&D departmet to analyze and solve. My mistake to adopt so cheap cameras, ruined by a FW update, for my 7x24 surveillance system.
What I find incredible: in the FW notes it was written "to increase stability", my mistake to accept the update. My system was already stable.
Anyway I didn't receive any email.
