  @Solla-topee

All my browsers are configured to allow all cookies and always have been.

It does not happen if a browser is open, and you go to another site, then come back to the Community.  You are still logged in.  As soon as you exit a browser, and then open it again to the Community, you are logged out.

I do not have delete all cookies on exit, either.

I am a member of quite a number of forums, and they also have the Remember Me box to select. When you exit a browser and then open it again, you are still logged into those forums. It has nothing to do with Ask To Save Passwords browser settings, either. However, if you clear cookies, you have to log back in.

Re:We're Looking For Your Feedback On TP-Link Community Here!

  @Solla-topee I started my Tapo Smart Home journey about a year ago and I have a mixture of devices now, Doorbell, camera's, movement sensors, switches, smart plugs,etc and have created lots of automation using the Tap app. The community pages have lots of info and I would like to provide some feedback and have some questions on where/how best to post. It's not that clear to me and appreciate some advice/potential improvements:

  1. Where should I raise defects? – on the feature request page? I see some are raised there and some are not? Is it just about tagging the thread appropriately if so how?
  2. When the Automation App is updated the description of the update on the AppStore/PlayStore is usually “Fixed some bugs and improved stability” – this might be o.k. on the AppStore/PlayStore but there should be more detailed release notes provided on the community site so we know what has been fixed. I am on Beta so even more important for Beta users as we are usually trying to push the limits of the automation and leveraging new features.
  3. In regards to firmware updates – I’ve seen comments  to “keep an eye on the TP-Link official website and product firmware release information to stay informed about the latest updates in software features”. Is there a single page to see the list of firmware updates or do I need to check every device separately on a regular basis? Can you please advise the best way to keep track or get notified of firmware updates, noting that most users have many devices so scanning each product page set individually on a regular basis is not practical.
  4. Automation programming tips/undocumented features sharing… there are a few important things people need to be aware of when “programming” automations… where is it best to share these… Here are some examples:
    • Disabling an automation which is in progress kills the automation and stops any remaining steps from being executed, this is important if you have delays in the actions section
    • Re-triggering of an automation in progress kills the in progress automation (as per above) and re-starts the actions from the start.
    • When an automation is stopped mid-stream, as per either of the above, any device actions already triggered for a set time will continue until the time is complete. I.e. sounding an alarm on a speaker for 5 mins or turning a smart plug on for 5 mins. If these need to be stopped once started then a separate action will be to be executed.
    • You cannot kill an in-progress shortcut, however if a shortcut is being run by an automation action, then it will stop if the Automation is disabled or re-triggered. Another way of thinking about this is to imagine the shortcut actions being embedded into the automation action list, so they are treated the same as other actions for the automation.
  5. Lastly and related to above, the community site seems to have grown and it’s not clear where information should be sourced, i.e. release notes or where specific things should be posted, i.e. defects or even just usage questions and/or tips, etc. Maybe a page could be created to provide more guidance on usage of the community site (or it could be added to existing TP-Link Community Forum Guidelines information)

Thanks.

  @Rbuck

Hi,
1. Regarding posting usage issues or sharing tips in the community on using our devices, it's suggested to first sort out the relevant product lines and issues. For example, if you have a problem with the Tapo camera that needs troubleshooting or have tips to share, you can start a new thread on the Tapo camera section.
If you have a new feature request for the Tapo devices, you can start a new thread here to post your feature request and usage scenario.

The below articles may help you use our community.

2. Usually, when new firmware is available for your device, you will see a new firmware available prompt on your Tapo app. You can also go to the Tapo app > Me > Firmware Update page to check if there is new firmware available for your device.

3. For your feedback about our apps, I'll log it and forward it to the relevant team to evaluate. Usually, if there are new features or major changes to our app, we will release the relevant instructions to the community.

Best Regards
