Hi!

Is it possible to automtically make the camera start recording video when detecting movement?

@Jonte0

Hi, tapo cameras will automatically record the video for a motion / sound detection after you set up Motion detection feature , here is an FAQ :

https://www.tp-link.com/support/faq/2622/

 Motion detection video clips are stored in the SD card and you could view the motion detection clip from Tapo app--Playback & Memory.

Thanks for the answer!

But...

When using detection to start video recording - for how long will the video record?

- As long as movement continue?
- For 5 minutes? 10?

It would be good if the video covered say 1 minute before the movement - this requires a pre-recording rolling buffer.

@Jonte0  Hi there,

Tapo C100 start recording when it detects the movement, and camera will continue the recording until there is no motion detected in the view.

Camera does not have pre-recording before the motion, if you do not want to miss any min before the motion, you could enable Continues Recording which will record continuously.

@Solla-topee

Great - thanks!

How could you have missed to write this in the manual?  ;-)

One more:

What happens when the memory card runs out? Does the video recording wrap around and write over oldest recording or does it stop?

(asos not in the manual...)
