Tapo C310 sensitivity
Last week I pruchased four Tapo C310.
Picture quiality, wifi connection is great, but there is one thing that isn't that great; camera sensitivity.
First there is only three step in the adjusment in sensitivity in the app(which would be very easy for Tp-Link to fix), would be much better if it was in %(0-100), but the camera reacts on very dust in the air in, snow and similar even on the lowest sensitivity when the Infrared light in active in the dark.
The apps send alot of Notifications the whole night because of these.
Are there any other settings in the app that can fix this or is this only something Tp-Link can fix?

I need a solution too as only just had the camera and the notifications for rain or dust is really getting annoying to the point of taking it back

I am generally impressed with these cameras. Have 3 of them.
hardware V2
firmware 1.1.10
But as folk have mentioned the overly sensitive notifications are a nuisance - so much so that I have turned notifications off.
Cameras were on setting 'low'.
A shame really - hope they can sort it.

I bought 3 tp link c310 cameras because they passed the test of the Dutch Consumer Association. When the first camera was hung up and I saw this phenomenon in the evening, I first tried to clean everything. But now that I have installed the other cameras in 2 other places around the house and the infrared is activated, I see the same phenomenon on all 3 cameras. Detection is low, but that still causes way too many notifications. We are a year later and nothing has happened. I'm afraid this was a bad buy. Too bad.

I have the same problem, primarily at night and more so when raining. I have to mute notifications because it's so intrusive. My timeline looks like a Paul Smith tie, all three detection types (area, motion, line) are triggered constantly.
My firmware is at the latest level 1.1.13 211209. This level of performance is unacceptable and unexpected from a brand like TP-link. It's like there has been no design or validation to consider these types of triggers. By comparison, my Ring video doorbell is perfect during the same weather conditions.
Please can TP-link confirm a plan to resolve this issue or I'll be returning mine.

Hello everyone,
Thank you for sharing your feedback with Tapo camera sensitivity. We recently released FAQ about this topic that provides some tips to help reduce the unwanted motion detection activities, kindly check out details from here:
How to reduce motion detections from rain, snow or insects
As mentioned in the above article, some scenes like rain drops, snow, insects swaying leaves, light and shadow changes etc. which would cause changes in video image and that could set off the camera motion sensor. This could happen on the cameras with a motion sensor.
We recommend adjusting the motion detection settings to Person Detection (AI Detection) for your camera.
( Note: make sure Tapo APP & Tapo camera firmware are both up to date )
Feel free to let us know if the above suggestions help with the situation.
If you still have concern with camera sensitivity or Person Detection, please help provide case details below and email to < support.forum@tp-link.com> with title' [ Forum ID 242022] + Model + Case details ' and we will have a specialist to help look into it further.
1) the video clip of the scene (use Tapo APP to manually record the video of scene that triggers motion detection events)
2) photo of motion detection settings including Activity Zone & Sensitivity
3) a photo of Playback detected activities / Message Box (envelope icon)on Tapo APP (showing how often the motion is triggered
4) Tapo APP version
Thank you.

@PeterSwe Hi, check which firmware you are running. With firmware 1.1.13 it is included. I've just enabled the setting as per their advice and hopeful we will notice a difference.

@Solla-topee
So I deactivated all detection options except the AI Detection, it started to snow so I got five warning videos in 1 minute.
I have tried a other camera from other manufactors which was cheaper and they still didn't have this problem.

@Solla-topee thanks for the recommended solution, it does reduce false alerts.
However it's not good enough as it doesn't detect other activity. I have a neighbours dog that comes into my yard and does it's business on my garden. As it's not detected as a person on the AI it doesn't alert or capture video.
The solution needs to be to have the camera not detect large distortions (ie raindrops) or fast moving objects (falling rain/snow, flying insects) as these are the cause of the false alerts on the motion detection setting. Without this the camera isn't a security camera it's just a video camera.
