Hello, as my knowledge,we need press another "start" button after power up the washing machine, while the plug can be controlled to turn on/off it only, so we need ensure that whether there is another button need to pushed; besides,  to protect security and privacy, the HS110 supports secured wifi network only, and once you set it up, we can check the signal strength via kasa app. May it help.
