Model: Tapo C410 KIT
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version:

I've got a new Tapo C410 kit and I'm pairing it for the first time. The app on my iPhone pairs with the Tapo's WiFi network, and then I select my home WiFi network and password for the final step. After a few minutes attempting to pair, I get the "Pairing Failed" message on the app and the camera is blinking red.

I have a BT Smart Hub 2 router, with 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands switched on. Security is set to WPA2 and wireless mode is Mode 2.

I'm not sure what else to check to diagnose the problem, or what else to try? I have tried the entire process 3 times from beginning to end, always the same result, so it's definitely not a case of "just try again". I'm also not sure how to provide the hardware or firmware version as I haven't paired yet. The label on the box says "Ver: 1.2"

Thanks

Matt

Hi,
You can refer to the instructions below to troubleshoot if you fail to configure the camera.
What should I do if I fail to configure Tapo Camera?

If the problem remains, please try to enable a hotspot Wi-Fi on your phone, factory reset the camera, configure it with another phone, connect it to the hotspot Wi-Fi, and then check if you can set it up successfully.

Best Regards

Thanks. I've tried following some of the suggestions on that article, and it now paired successfully.

I switched off the "Smart channel" selector for 2.4GHz on my router (even though it said it was using channel 1) and set Channel 1 specifically instead.

I also switched off the Firewall on the router, so I'm not sure which of the two changes were successful. I've now configured port forwarding rules for the camera on ports 2020 and 554 instead, and switched the Firewall back on. All seems fine.
