Hi,

I own several tp-link tapo cameras including C225 v1. Configured and locked Bitrate of Main stream used be 3072 but after recent firmware upgrade it has been reduced to 2048. This is really bad since it reduces image quality and increases Image artifacts.

This is really bad since you are intentionally decreasing product performance to enforce users to upgrade.

Same thing has also happened on Tapo C120 where original Bitrate of Main Stream was 3072 but now it is 2048. I will open a separate forum post for Tapo C120.

Can you please address this issue or provide a way to downgrade firmware.

I will avoid firmware upgrades further on.

Regards

Harmandeep

Hi,
We don't have the instructions to downgrade the camera's firmware. Please confirm the following information for the reported issue.

1. Please send me(@Solla-topee) your camera's MAC address via a private message.

2. How many devices are watching your camera's live feed simultaneously? Please turn off the camera, wait for two minutes, turn it on, and ensure only one device streams the camera's live feed, is the bitrate limited to 2048?

3. What app/program are you using to check the bitrate limit?

Best Regards

  @Solla-topee

1. Mac address shared via PM.

2. I am using Onvif device manager to see the stream settings hardcoded by Tplink. I am streaming single device.

Apart from Tapo C225, i have also noticed that latest C520ws firmware has also reduced Bitrate from 3072 to 2560. This is so frustrating and disappointing.

I will never auto upgrade firmware from now on.

The other tapo cameras I own are Tapo C220. Fortunately, its bitarate has not been reduced by firmware upgrade. It was 2560 since release and has stayed at 2560 kbps till latest firmware.
