How to increase number of clients per ssid
How to increase number of clients per ssid
Hello,
For EAP650- outdoor Access Point it was mentioned as it can support 250+ concurrent clients. But, in the access point I couldn't connect more than 127 clients per ssid. Then, how it can support 250+ concurrent clients? I have tried with multiple ssid too. For a 5GHz band, together only 128 clients are getting connected. Other clients are unable to join the network. How can I reach the maximum clients in the ap at a time.

Simultaneous connection of 120+ clients has almost reached the performance bottleneck of the EAP650-outdoor.
What kind of clients are connecting to the EAP? If you need to connect more client, you may add more EAP units; otherwise, the performance will be affected.
BTW, For EAP650- outdoor Access Point it was mentioned as it can support 250+ concurrent clients.
May we know where you got this info?

Have you set anything on the Maximum Associated Clients settings on the access point?

@Vincent-TP The clients connected to the network are drones. In the official data sheet, it was mentioned as eap650-outdoor can support 250+ concurrent devices.

Thanks for the info.
Please have a look at the Disclaimer at the bottom of the datasheet:

Hi @Vincent-TP,
The thing is in the datasheet it is mentioned as 250+ concurrent clients, but in a webserver setting of the access point, in a 5GHz radio load balance (client limit) section, the maximum allowed clients is 127, i could not enter a number more than 127. This is where I get confused. What is the meaning of maximum concurrent clients? if the radio setting option only as 127 max clients. If the clients could not enter the network due to network traffic or environmental condition, it's fine. But, that's the limitation of a 5GHz radio. It's a TP Link EAP650- Oudoor v1.0 (US).
Is there any other way to increase the no. of clients with VLAN or any other way?

it looks like there are limitations in the controller software, I see there are more on the HD device

Hi @MR.S,
But this is EAP625 and EAP610?
Similar to EAP610-Outdoor, EAP650 has this limitation. Is there any other way to increase the number of clients? what do you mean by HD Device?
So, if they mention 250+ concurrent clients, is it 127 in 5GHz and 127 in 2.4GHz?

HD=High-Density more than 1000 clients in the specifications. I have an EAP660 HD too it also has 511 clients in the controller

Hi @MR.S, Is there any other way to increase the max no of clients using VLAN or adding 2 or more ssid?
