Good evening

I have TL-SG3428MP connected to Aruba InstantOn 1930 only via one uplink whenever I have configured RSTP over both of them if let the TL-SG3428MP to be the root bridge it put the uplink in a discarding state and show as Backup or Alternative, but if I let the Aruba to be the root bridge everything goes right I have tried to change the port cost,prority and nothing had solved the problem when I checked the MAC address table over TL-SG3428MP it can see two MAC address from the uplink one is 4D:E0:53:7D:55:1E which is the Aruba MAC address and another one 4D:E0:53:7D:55:1F which does not belong to any devices over my LAN the Arub switch itself does not have any devices connected to I have capture the BPDU and the only MAC address that it can see from the Aruba is  4D:E0:53:7D:55:1E which is the MAC address of the Aruba switch itself I really need the TL-SG3428MP to be the root bridge any one can help me with that I have been searching for a solution from about a month now and I am worry beacause we are buying a new switch witch is TL-SG3428MP too I do not want to buy it if it is not compatable with Aruba switch I am sorry for saying that

Hi @LeeRayan

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

The MAC address is expected.

But what you described is that the 3428MP cannot be the root, how do you configure it? Screenshots?

  @Clive_A

Thank you for your reply

The following attached images show my RSTP configuration when I change the CIST Priority to 4096 or 0 to make TP-Link switch the Root bridge it puts the uplink between it and the Aruba switch in a discarding state. And I am sorry you said that the MAC address is expected can you please explain why it is expected?
