High number of retried packets
Good day! Recently I deployed a number of EAP 650 access points together with OC200 WIFI controller. Today I've found that all my access points have quite high number of retried packets (see the screenshot). Does anyone can suggest me anything to check and try to reduce this number? couple of things you will need to figure out here...
During your peak times and even in the most conjested areas... does your wireless clients have good signal?
Go into the controller and click on the client list. Click on the 3 dots on the far right. Click all columns.
You want to look at Wireless Connection, Signal, and RX TX.
If your clients are hitting -73, which means the start of low signal. On the 5ghz, you will need to enable Mini Rssi at -73. That will boot the wireless clients to the 2.4 with stronger signal.
If your clients are at the same signal on the 2.4, you will need to enable mini rssi at =73, so they can get booted to the closest AP.
This will work if your APs have good overlapping signal. If you do this on the 2.4 and the clients drop off, then you have a dead spot.
If you have newer clients, you can run Fast Roaming, but again you will need decent overlapping signal between APs.
THIS above will you give a good idea of WHY you have high retry rates.

Too add a little more to this... RX TX... the numbers should be fairly high. If theyre newer clients. If you have a 10 year old laptop connected, its gonna be low.
If the numbers look low, they run wifi optimization. This is a quick ghetto way of seeing if you have interference or a conjected channel.

Thanks a lot for your recommendation. In fact I enabled only 5GHz radio mode only as I assume my clients all support it. More over before once I enabled 2.4 mode my TV screens failed to connect as were not able to decide to which mode they should connect. So I created hidden 2.4 SSID just for TV screens.
Regards signal strength here it is the top 10 clients (signal strength arranged from lowest to highest). You said I can try to enable Fast roaming option. Ok I will try it. Perhaps I should also try enable mini rssi at =...., so they can get booted to the closest AP. Or perhaps I should check what APs these clients connect to and raise up its signal power level?

Hi and thanks a lot. Today I've found that when I walk inside my space and obviously should be switched between APs I have an issue: I launch ping command with -t key and when I walk I get lost reply one of approximately 10 pings. I suppose it happens when I switch between APs and it doesn't happen smoothly. So if I get ping packets lost then any voip call will get a short break. My APs are overlapping but it seems the roaming is not configured properly. I thought Fast roaming option can help here but heard that in many cases such option enablement brings new issues. ANd I made ping test with minimum RSSI signal enabled and disabled with the same result.
