"True" sunrise function/dimming (with changing brightness, not just colour)?
Absolutely love the light strip, put it around the bed frame. The main thing I got this for, and what I want to set up, is a very subtle wake up timer in the morning: Starting from 1% to 100%. The sunrise preset is more pronounced in terms of colour scheme - I don't really know if it changes brightness at all. When I try to create custom presets it seems to me I can choose one fixed brightness and many colours.
Is there a way to create what I want? Or do I need to fake it by creating 9 separate timers with 10%, 20%, ... 100% and just chain them up in the morning in 1 minute intervals?

There isn't a specific feature for this. But you can achieve it through automation, it's similar to your timer idea, but more convenient.
So you can create all the settings in one automation:
When at Sunrise (Trigger: Time of day)
Then
- Turn On L900 at white light 5% brightness. (Action skill: Turn on and customize lighting)
- Delay 2 seconds
- Turn On L900 at white light 10% brightness.
- Delay 2 seconds
etc...

@Wayne-TP Oh wow, thank you so much! Just tested this and it's exactly what I've been looking for. Obviously a built-in slow wake-up function would be nicer, but I didn't see the smart automation menu, that's super fun to play with. I assume there's no way to create those on the PC, is there? Or even through code? As typing/tapping on phone is a bit cumbersome (but that's just me, I'm a coder and wouldn't actually mind to code this). I like some orange colour like FFA200 and trying to hit that 50 times (as I want slow 1% increases every 4 seconds) will take some time to set up. But that'll work, can't wait to test this tonight!

Tapo app does not have a PC version, all settings will be done through Tapo Android or iOS app. And Tapo does not provide or support open source solutions.
The bulb color can be selected through the options provided in the app or by choosing from the color wheel. Currently, it does not support setting the color by entering a color code.
