I have installation of Omada Controller version 5.14.20.9. I am trying to stand up a new server and restore a backup of the existing server to the new server. The Omada Controller isntallation is on the same 5.14.20.9 version. When attempting the restore, I get an error in the UI and the restore fails. How can I restore the backup from one server to a new server?

Error in the UI

Restore failed

Failed to restore because of unexpected errors. Please try again later.

Error in the server.log file: I get an error in the server log file regarding the restore but the forum won't let me include the details in the post.

  @MR.S

I'm trying to run on a fresh Windows server installation.

I got it working - issue was the java version.

Thanks for your help.

Hi  @jonmaxey

Is the backup file also from controller v5.14? or from a lower version?

Wish you a happy life and smooth network usage!

Yes the backup file is from the same controller version. This is the error in the log java.lang.reflect.InaccessibleObjectException: Unable to make field private static final long java.util.LinkedHashMap.serialVersionUID accessible: module java.base does not "opens java.util" to unnamed module @77888435 For some reason I'm prevented from posting the full stack trace from the log.

Yes I'm using 64bit java. I've reinstalled java. Is there a specific java version required for the controller?

  @jonmaxey

Java 8 i required

what are you running your controller on? Windows, Linux docker or clean installation.

a new version of Omada has arrived, you can try upgrading to v5.14.26.1, maybe it works better., I tested restore on this myself and it worked well
