  @RajibPaul

Clear example of what's happening during motion of camera, compression artifacts taking over.

Hi, just grabbed a still from my C212:

I didn't even have to blur the license plate, as it's already so heavily pixelated...

Camera isn't moving, the car is slowly going down the garage ramp.

Whenever there is significant motion in the frame (either the camera moves or a large object, lighting changes etc), the image becomes complete garbage.

@TP-Link do you have anything to say?

BTW, the camera is hardwired to gigabit network

@RajibPaul  Thank you for your sharing, and I have escalated the new video recording to the tech team.

@SillyPari  I notice you have contacted our senior engineers via email and the ticket ID is TKID240336506, you can also report this case and video to them via email for further help.

@RajibPaul

This is the reply I got from the tapo engineering team :

Tldr : The Artifacts are compression issue due to inferior codec used in Tapo cameras (H.264)

1. The main problem is the C220 doesn't support H.265, and the xiaomi camera mentioned in this link https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/662444?replyId=1346642 supports H.265

When the camera is in motion, the video scene typically experiences significant changes, such as fast-moving objects or shifting backgrounds. These dynamic variations introduce more details and complexity into the video. Due to H.265's higher compression efficiency, it can better preserve these details, reducing pixelation and block artifacts in the image.

2. Another problem is the shooting scenes of xiaomi and Evizi are flat and smooth walls, while the scenes of C212 have complex textures.

  @SillyPari, as I'm sure you realize, that's nonsense. H.264 is perfectly capable of providing proper video, at a proper bitrate. Yes, H.265 might perform better in terms of compression/effeciency, but the problem is not the codec, but TP-Link's implementation. I have 9 more cameras in my home setup, all doing H.264, none of which have this kind of problem.
