Alexa seems to have limitations with third-party temperature sensors. There doesn't seem to be a temperature sensor that can be used for setting routine triggers, at least not I'm aware of.

I'm not sure if this is something that can be achieved by our product development, or if it is something that Alexa would need to optimize. For now, let's consider it as a feature request.

Please remove tapo hub and the sensor from alexa, open tapo app go to the settings of tapo Hub and select bind to matter.
Now add the hub again in alexa using Matter Code mentioned under the qr code. Now the sensor will trigger routines

@CTX21 Yup This is it. Worked for me.
Unlink from alexa the Tapo account from the skills area.
Add device in alexa app by adding it manually and then select Matter and in your tapo hub you can go to settings and the code which you use in that connection setup in alexa, then you see all devices to set them up to chose the rooms again and edit the names as well.
As soon as you set them all up one by one, you can actually see on them the option to trigger routines

@Cmihi Thanks for this. I managed to set up a routine with the temperature, however, it doesn't actually seem to tell Alexa when it has reached the temperature or gone below it so the routines never trigger. Have you had a similar issue?
I am using it to trigger a routine to turn the hive thermastat TRV on as the thermometers on those are always way out. My temperature is just continuing to rise though and it's never getting turned off. I also had to manually trigger the routine to get it to turn on in the first place.
Cheers in advance for any help.
