Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.2.3 Build 20221104 Rel.41500

Dear TP-Link Support Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to seek assistance regarding an issue we are facing with our recently purchased TP-Link ER7206 router.

We have been attempting to utilize the port forwarding feature on the router, but unfortunately, it doesn't seem to be functioning correctly. Despite following the instructions provided in the user manual and making the necessary configurations, the port forwarding doesn't appear to be working as expected.

To provide you with a better understanding of the problem, here are the details of our network setup and the steps we have taken:

  1. Router Model: TP-Link ER7206
  2. 2x WAN Modem -> TP-Link ER7206 -> DVR

Steps taken for port forwarding:

  1. Accessed the router's administration interface through the web browser.
  2. Navigated to the "NAT -> Virtual Server" section.
  3. Entered the relevant port numbers and IP addresses for the devices we want to forward ports to.
  4. Saved the changes and ensured the settings were applied.

Despite completing these steps, we have been unable to establish successful port forwarding. We have also attempted to troubleshoot the issue by rebooting the router, double-checking the configurations, and ensuring that the necessary ports are open on our firewall.

Considering our reliance on proper port forwarding for our network activities, we kindly request your assistance in resolving this matter. If possible, could you provide us with detailed instructions or any potential solutions to troubleshoot and rectify this issue?

We greatly appreciate your attention and prompt assistance in addressing this problem. Please let us know if any additional information is required from our end to further investigate the matter.

Thank you in advance for your help. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Best regards,

Rodrigo Quadros

Ideally, yes, bridge mode would be best. That should enable the public IP assigned to the modem today, to move to the WAN port of the router.

Alternatively reserver each .10 address in your modem for the router's WAN port.  Then set the .10 address of each modem to be that modem's DMZ IP, for most situations, this will also enable port forwarding to work.  DMZ basically says, for any inbound traffic to a port without specific port forward configured, please send the request to this IP/port.

  @rxdrigoquadros

Port forwarding only works if you have public IPs on the router WAN ports OR you have set the private IP assigned by your modem (statically) to the WAN port as its DMZ.

For clarity, what IP addresses are showing for  your 2 WAN ports on the 7206?

  @d0ugmac1 Thanks for your response! In the wan interfaces, the internal IPs are shown, 192.168.15.10 and 192.168.1.10. Do I need my modems to be in bridge mode to work?
