Hi!

I installed a firewall on my network and was stunned to see many unknown IP addresses contacted by the C210 I installed i.e MBs of data is uploaded to these IP addresse each time.

Is there any valid explanation why the C210 is doing this? Despite my constant attempts to block the IP addresses, new ones get triggered almost daily.

  @gooduck

User's data security is high priority to us. Tapo cameras uses industry-standard AES 128-bit encryption with SSL/TLS to encrypt the camera data, besides the cloud and application also have many protections to keep away from the attacks, ensuring your home security.

  • To add an extra layer of security to the camera, you could enable Two Step-Verification for your TP-Link account; confirm your device firmware & app are both up to date; do not use reuse the same account & passwords on different platforms.
  • For the situation you reported, you could also try to assign a different IP address for the camera on the router web page if the router supports IP address reservation.

To look into this further, we created a support email TKID220823526 for your case, please check your email inbox later.

For any user that have an security related inquiry, please reach our local support directly so they could look into the case directly as soon as possible (or report your feedback from APP Feedback entry: Tapo APP> Me>Help& Feedback) .
