Model: Tapo C200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.8

Last week I pruchased four Tapo C310.
 Picture quiality, wifi connection is great, but there is one thing that isn't that great; camera sensitivity.

 First there is only three step in the adjusment in sensitivity in the app(which would be very easy for Tp-Link to fix), would be much better if it was in %(0-100), but the camera reacts on very dust in the air in, snow and similar even on the lowest sensitivity when the Infrared light in active in the dark.
 The apps send alot of Notifications the whole night because of these.

Are there any other settings in the app that can fix this or is this only something Tp-Link can fix?

@Hungry-bob

Hello everyone,

Thank you for sharing your feedback with Tapo camera sensitivity.  We recently released FAQ about this topic that provides some tips to help reduce the unwanted motion detection activities, kindly check out details from here:
How to reduce motion detections from rain, snow or insects

As mentioned in the above article, some scenes like rain drops, snow, insects swaying leaves, light and shadow changes etc. which would cause changes in video image and that could set off the camera motion sensor. This could happen on the cameras with a motion sensor.

We recommend adjusting the motion detection settings to Person Detection (AI Detection)  for your camera.

( Note: make sure Tapo APP & Tapo camera firmware are both up to date )

Feel free to let us know if the above suggestions help with the situation.

If you still have concern with camera sensitivity or Person Detection, please help provide case details below and email to < support.forum@tp-link.com> with title'  [ Forum ID 242022] + Model + Case details  ' and we will have a specialist to help look into it further.

1) the video clip of the scene (use Tapo APP to manually record the video of scene that triggers motion detection events)

2) photo of motion detection settings  including Activity Zone & Sensitivity

3) a photo of Playback detected activities / Message Box (envelope icon)on Tapo APP (showing how often the motion is triggered

4) Tapo APP version

Thank you.

@PeterSwe

Good day,

Sorry for the delay.

Thanks a lot for your kind reply.

Have you tried to adjust the Activity Zone on the Tapo C310  or adjust the location of the camera to have a look?

Since currently, it did not support notification schedule and only had 3 levels of motion sensitivity.

And we have already reported the feedback to the senior engineers for further assistance.

If anyone had the same request, please feel free to update it here.

Thanks a lot.

@TP-Link

All of the four cameras are sensitive, doesnt matter where I place them.

 Daytime works pretty well, but night with IR dust, snowflakes, raindrops becomes more visible the camera reacts very easy on the lowest sensititvy setting.

 One thing that the engineers might do in order to fix the problem besides adding more steps in adjustment of sensitivty is to add a setting to make it less sensititve smaller things like dust, raindrops, snowflakes.

@TP-Link

I agree completely. The cameras are superb,fantastic picture quality and so easy to set up. However they are let down by the detection of spurious events,rain,flys etc.Have to turn notification off which defeats point of security monitoring.

I agree with the rest, I get hundreds of notifications from my 3 cameras during a night. Another issue is if I only have Line-crossing detection ON, I can't choose sensitivity level? I mean I don't wont notification when a insect crosses a line, this should be able to fix with a firmware update. Quality and set-up of the camera is great, app also. Thnx

Same here. I did not bought this camera to see all the insects and rain drops.

Agreed, bought mine to replace a Blink camera which never gave false triggers.

I don't need to get the weather as I get the notification that it's raining, even on low sensitivity.

Same here....even shadows (day and night) trigger hundreds of notifications. A solution is needed ASAP.
