I just got a pair of Kasa HS103P2

And I find it extremely surprising that it needs location permissions to even get started. I understand the need for connecting to wifi, but why location. Wanting my GPS location to predict sunrise sunset times sounds like an excuse to get PII.

1. This must become optional

2. Sunrise/sunset times can easily be determined by just specifying zip code.

Is there a way to not divulge this information?

@nozamA

Good day,

Sorry for the delay.

As for the location permission, it is not just for the sunrise/sunsite schedule and smartphone also needs it to find the smart plugs and control the smart plugs in the local LAN.

And these information is stored and managed according to the local data privacy laws and would not be leaked.

Thank you very much.
