Firmware Version:

Just bought AX1500 WiFi 6 Router and R470T+. And I have 3 ISPs and wanting to configure all to use as Load Balancer for my WiFi connected devices. Can anyone share best practice to do this? Thank you in advance.

Dear @MPdotcom,

May I know the bandwidth provided by your ISP? What do you want to achieve with the TL-R470T+ router? Do you expect to utilize the total bandwidth from the 3 ISPs through the  TL-R470T+?

Please note that TL-R470T+ only has fast Ethernet, the NAT throughput is no more than 100Mbps.

@Fae I got a R470T+ today. I have 2 ISP providers giving me 300MBPS speed each. I connected the ISP Modems to WAN 1 and WAN 2 ports of R470T+ and setup the Load Balancer. But my speed drops to 10-12MBPS even if I am connected on cable between my Laptop and R470T+. I see many posts about slow performance with this router, not sure if it is a limitation with the router or if I need to setup differently. Kindly guide.

Have 6/10/25 mbps. i think its fine on 100mbps LAN Port. I am able to set it up with an ease and little changes on some parameters.

For me its a simple setup. Just make sure you assign separate IP on each ISP for easier identification.

Dear @stray,

I got a R470T+ today.

For your case, it's likely to be a negotiation issue between the laptop and R470T+ OR between the ISP modem and R470T+, you could check the two points below:

1. Check the link speed on your laptop when it's connected to the R470T+ via cable, verify if it is 100Mbps.

How to check the associated/link speed on a wired client

If the link speed you have is not 100Mbps, please try another port to connect, change the Ethernet cable you are using if there is.

2. Check the link speed on the R470T+, verify if the port 1 and port 2 (WAN1 and WAN2) have 100Mbps speed.

How to check: log into the router's web UI, choose the menu Network >>Switch>>Port Status, from where you could check the link speed for the corresponding port.

If the link speed is exactly 100Mbps steadily on both laptop and WAN side, you may use Iperf to test the speed of the router.

How to use Iperf to test the speed on TP-Link routers

Back to your situation, if your 2 ISPs provide you 300Mbps speed each, we are afraid that the R470T+ router cannot help to make full use of your bandwidth.

Kindly note that the R470T+ only has 100Mbps ports, the speed won't be higher than 100Mbps.

Hope this information is helpful. Best Regards!
