TL-SG3424P firmware upgrade requires touching every switch?

Release notes for firmware TL-SG3424P_V2_141219 indicate in the notes "Your device’s configuration will be lost after upgrading, which means you need to configure your device again after upgrading."
This is totally impractical for remote switches configured to best practices, such as not using the default original VLAN.
Essentially, this means every deployed switch must be touched because of this update, and this update must be installed (at least for us) because of the '100% CPU usage' actually locking-up the switch and leading to enterprise-down.
Will TP-link provide an update that does not require touching every switch, and what is the time-frame for such a release? This is such a monumental failure; it will be extremely difficult to consider TP-link networking gear as useable in an SMB environment going forward.
