EAP610 V2.0 - no Adopting with newer firmware possible
![](/avatar/avatar-2.png)
Hi there,
I uses two of EAP610 V2.0 with old firmware 1.0.2 which are momently connected to omada software controller 5.15.8.2. works fine. When I want to update the EAPs to newer firmware version (tried 1.3.1 and 1.1.7), there is no adoption possible to the omada software controller. Firmware update finished successfully and I can access the EAPs thourgh own web page. Is this a bug or is there an configuration missing from my side? When I downgrade the EAP610 to firmware 1.0.2 again, adopting is possible again.
System without firewalls through this network, no VLAN.
Hope you can help me or give me info, if this is a bug. Thanks!

Hi @Jeemain
Thanks a lot for your detailed reply.
The error "Device adoption failed because the device did not respond to adopt commands. means that the communication between EAP and Omada Software Controller/ Hardware Controller is blocked. You may consider the following:
1) Omada Software Controller/ Hardware Controller communicates with Omada EAP via TCP/UDP port 29810-29816. Some anti-virus programs or firewalls may block this kind of packet. You can disable the anti-virus or firewalls (on the PC that the Omada Software Controller is installed) in your network first for checking. And you need to open TCP/UDP port 29810-29816 in the anti-virus/firewalls.
2) To make sure the Omada EAP is accessible, please ping the IP address of EAP on the PC that the Omada Software Controller is installed.
3) If you have VLAN settings in your network, please make sure the EAP and Omada Software Controller/ Hardware Controller belong to the same VLAN.
For old firmware versions, the controller/EAP only requires 29810-29814 ports. Maybe that's the reason. Please check the two new ports 29815 and 29816 are open.

there is no adoption possible to the omada software controller.
Please give us more details about the issue. Do you mean the Adopt button will disappear? Or it will adopt failed?
If adopt failed, please let us know the error message.

Hi,
in the following in datail my steps of updating and try of adopting the device to omada:
Following steps:
1. Omada software controller give note, that new update is available (1.0.2 to 1.3.1)
2. Start of update via Omada software controller. Status changes from "connected" to "updating"
3. Omada waits for x minutes, that firmware update finishes. Status is "adopting" for more than 8 minutes
4. Omada abort with error "Unknown upgrade results. The device cannot connect to the controller after upgrading. Please check your internet connection". Status changes to "disconnected" and toggles after that between "adopting" and "disconnected" automatically
5. Manual access to EAP610 with IP-adress. Login with password. Webpage acccessable, firmware update finished successfully.
6. Start on EAP610s webpage an reboot.
7. Same behaviour as before
8. Start on EAP610s webpage an factory reset
9. Status on Omada changes to "disconnected" continously
10. Press button "Forget device" in Omada software. Warning occures "The controller has forgotten the device but failed to reset it. Manual reset is required before the AP is adopted by a controller.
11. Press button "+ Add Devices" and select EAP610 in list. Status is "pending" and version is shown as V1.3.1. Press "Apply"
12. Status changes to "adopting". IP-adress found after 30 seconds. Wait for x minutes on this status.
13. Status changes to "adopt failed". No error massage
14. Change window of omada software controller to device list. Status is "adopt failed" here. Press button "retry Adopting". new window opens to enter user and password. Confirmed with factory login data.
15. Status changes to "adopting". After 3 minutes error "Device adoption failed because the device dous not respond to adopt commands.
16. Furtheron every new try will end in this error massage.
17. Via EAP610s webpage I enter configuration site and downgrade the firmware to 1.0.2 again.
18. After Downgrade Omada Adopt directly to the device. Status changes to "connected"
