Problems with LAG between T1600G-28PS and SG3210XHP-M2
Monday
Model: TL-SG3210XHP-M2
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 3.0.0 Build 20230725 Rel.71176

I'm trying to set up a 4 port LAG between these two switches.

On the  T1600G-28PS I have 1GB SFP in ports 25-28 and I've linked these to ports 5-8 on the SG3210XHP-M2.

I've tried static LAG and LACP (with one end set to active and the other to passive) and in both cases I get ~12% packet loss on a simple ping test between the two switches.

All four patch cables test 100% OK on my Fluke CableIQ qualification tester.

I've also tried with and without flow control enabled but every time I get ~12% packet loss.

How do I get this to work reliably?

Any ideas?

Kind regards

John

Hi @johndpar

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

First, make sure both models are installed with the latest firmware.

Go to the global site and see if there is one for your models:

You see packets lost in the ping tests? Or how do you verify it?

If you reduce the LAG ports, will there be a difference?

Hi  @Clive_A

Both switches are already running the latest available firmware.

I see packet loss in ping test but also in VOIP(SIP) and other applications

I will do as you suggest and see what happens if I reduce the number of ports in the LAG and report back.

Many thanks

Kind regards

John

Hi @johndpar,

I currently have a T1600G-28TS lagged (2 RJ45 ports) to a SG3428X using LACP.  It's active on the SG3428; my T1600G donesn't have an active/passive option, but it works w/o any issues.  I've had issues in other setups in the past were the pre-lagged port config caused issues.  Try removing the lag, set the member ports back to the basic default configuration and then recreate the lag.  Also, have you tried using 4 non-SFP ports.  Based on your configuration, I assume your SFP ports are loaded with RJ45 transceivers so there could heat, power or transceiver problem.
