Model: EAP655-Wall   OC200
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.0 Build 20240829 Rel. 66578

Hi,

in the topology view my EAP655-wall show a MAC which belongs to my (zyxel) POE switch on the wrong side of the EAP
I expect it to be shown on the left "backend" side (green rectangle) not on the right frontend side (red)

Regards

ASD

Hi  @ASD_AuZ

So the MAC address is the switch.

This is because the EAP detects the switch as its own client.

The Omada controller can only detect SDN devices and display them in the Map page.

From the topology you shared, the EAP units are the only SDN product, so that's normal; all other non-SDN devices, including the switch, will be displaying as EAP clients.

Hi  @ASD_AuZ

Please let us know the complete topology, especially how the EAP is connecting to the POE switch.

What kind of the mentioned MAC address is?

Did you try unplug and replug that device? Or reboot it

  @Vincent-TP

Hi,
regarding to the webui of the switch this is the mac of the switch itself.

the EAP655 is connected to the switch via a cable and some patchpanel - RJ45 socket but i dont think this does matter... from my point of view this is a direct connection. no other devices are in between.

complete setup:

  @Vincent-TP

so it don't care on what port (uplink/downlink) the mac comes from its all "clients" ?

  @ASD_AuZ

If the uplink switch is TP-Link SDN switch, it will detect and display it on the correct side.

If you've been paying attention, only SDN devices appear at the front of the topology; all other non-SDN devices will just show up as clients.

that was not the question. sure its not omada capable switch but anyways the eap655 has 3 frontend and 1 backend port and therefore could detect if a device (client) is connected to front or backend port....

it would draw a more correct picture of the topology if this would be not ignored.
