Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.1.2 Build 20240324 Rel.46738

Hi all,

I've recently bought my first Omada hardware when being forced to move to a new ISP. The standard modem is very limited and the new ISP allows for direct connections without using the provided ISP modem/router. The only settings needed are putting Internet VLAN to 300 and dynamic IP. The ISP provides an ONT. the ER7206 is connected to it via LAN2, set as WAN port.

When not being adopted by the OC200, the (standalone) ER7206 get's a direct connection from the ISP.

When the ER7206 is adopted by the OC200 I'm not getting online and I cannot access the OC200 as it's not seen online.

I've tried setting up the ER7206, then adopting it, as well as first adopting it, then setting up the ER7206.

What am I doing wrong? I was hoping to adopt all hardware through the OC200, as I'm planning to expand with additional EAP's later on.

The only way to get access right now is to connect the ISP to the ISP ONT, then connecting the ER7206 to the ISP modem.

The setup is as following:

- ISP, ONT

- [LAN2 as WAN] ER7206. Settings: Dynamic IP and Internet VLAN to 300 | 192.168.1.1

-SG2008P V3.20 (FW: 3.20.1 Build 20240115 Rel.72847) | 192.168.1.3

- OC200 controller (POE) | 192.168.1.2

- EAP673(EU) v1.0 (POE) | 192.168.1.4

Thanks in advance!

Hi @Steve9004

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Hi @Clive_A,

I've configured the WAN according specifications of the ISP.

What do you mean with the part that the MAC-address should be different when changing the WAN port? As there is an ONT provided by the ISP, I configured the WAN2-port of the ER7206 as main WAN port.

What I find odd is that when I connect the ER7206 without OC200, the router is online without a problem. Once migrating the ER to the OC200, the problem starts.

Below are screenshots of the current settings.

Does your ISP require an 802.1Q Tag? This matters as well. As you have configured the VLAN ID but it is not enabled. I suspect it might be the issue.

Regarding the MAC address, every WAN port got a MAC address.

The modem usually stores the MAC address to secure access. You may reboot the modem along with the router connected.

Or you need to check with your ISP if they have bound the MAC address to your Internet plan. Which will require them to unbind it.

Are you saying the standalone mode, it can work well but not for the controller mode?

What are the differences between the settings in standalone and controller? Paste a screenshot.

Please mosaic your sensitive information. Here is a list of information considered sensitive:

1. Public IP address on your WAN if your WAN is.

2. Real MAC address of your device.

3. Your personal information including address, domain name, and credentials.

For troubleshooting purposes, when a WAN IP is needed, please leave some values visible for identification.

Hi  @Steve9004

You should configure the WAN if necessary. If you use the same port as the WAN, it'd be no prob. If you change the WAN port, the MAC address would be different. You should reboot the modem if necessary to let it refresh the stored MAC address.

Think you'd check the WAN settings.

Solved! The ISP doesn't say anything about the 802.1Q-tag, but I gave it a try. After ten minutes the OC200 came online. @Clive_A, thank you for your help!
