Model: EAP225-Outdoor
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 5.1.1 Build 20230921 Rel. 63318(4555)

For the past few months, my EAP22g-Outdoor has constantly been connecting and disconnecting for no apparent reason. It will stay in a disconnected state for hours before the cycle begins again. See sample from the log below:

Yesterday, I had enough and removed it from the controller and "forgot" it. I then noticed that it visible and "managed by third party" (or something to that effect) and I remembered the standalone option.

I logged in to the EAP, reset and configured as standalone and it seems to have been rocksolid since - 19 hours uptime at the moment.

Any ideas as to why?

Did you have more than one available root AP? I have seen once where a normally solid meshed 225-outdoor latched onto a faint root node over a better local choice...and kept retrying...until forced onto better choice.

  @d0ugmac1 It was connected to my switch via PoE and not in a mesh network. That was one of the first troubleshooting things I did; turn off mesh networking:

It is connected directly to my SG2210MP v4.20 and currently waiting to be adopted:

If you re-adopt does it start being unstable again, or not?

I'm reluctant to be honest to re-enable as its working! The primary reason for the outdoor AP is to provide connectivity for my cameras; the signal between the cameras and the interior AP's is very marginal.

I'll try it though and see what happens.

  @Cozz

The reason for it is that I have seen during a power glitch, the meshed AP relocation to a marginal AP, and hang on  even when the much better option came back online.

New controllers have the option to 'prefer' a certain uplink, which I now use and so far so good

Mine was always set to Ethernet uplink; it was never in a wifi mesh environment. I have had it re-connected to the controller and all seems OK so far.

Definitely something software related, very periodic at 5min.   It's not random, so not a glitch or attack.  You're probably ok.

Well, I updated the firmware on the switch and now the AP has started the disconnect/reconnect issue again. I've forgotten it again and am waiting for it to show up like last time.

Very frustrating!
