Firmware Version: 5.12.7

Hi all,

I'm running the Omada controller within a docker container. As I migrate my docker containers to a new host, I want to migrate the Omada controller as well.

I followed this instructions: https://www.tp-link.com/de/support/faq/3589/

But unfortunately the devices stay in the DISCONNECTED state on both controllers. I already waited 1h, with no change.

Has someone a clue, what is wrong here or how I can do further troubleshooting?

Thanks

tukane

  @Virgo

OK, I've managed the migration now.

I used another template to setup the docker container for the controller. This used some high-ports which where needed for discover of the devices.

Thank you for your support.

So you have migrated it and it works, but devices are all disconnected on the controller, right? reboot?

Are devices working still? Can you ping them from the controller?

Yes, all steps of the migration were successful (but basicly it was just a config restore on a new controller so far). I skipped only the last step, de-attaching the devices from the old controller.

The devices are pingable from the new controller. A reboot didn't solve the problem. I can cancel the migration on the old controller and all devices are connected again. During the migration the devices work without any interuption. I'm not sure what should happen in the migration phase. Maybe the controller IP is changed in the config and the devices should perform a reboot? This is not happening.

Both contollers have the same software version (5.12.7). They are in the same subnet. I tried to migrate only 1 device but with same result.

Tried to forget all devices on the old controller, and put the new controller into the network, readopt all devices on the new controller. Pay attention to the device account on the old controller, you will need it.

@Virgo

I don't know if it is a good idea to forget the devices on the old controller unless they are visible and connected at the new one.

Yes, Forget means all devices will go back to standalone mode. Be careful to back up all settings before you do it, but it indeed has a risk, it's up to you.

Oh, so the old one blocked some necessary ports which the controller used, definitely, I forgot that. yes
