Hi,

so i am using my Work PC and my normal PC on the same Spot in a diffrend Room then where my Router is located...  i do have 1 Lan cable going into the other room but dont have the option to bring a second cable into the other room.. so i thought, hey no problem.. i use the switch and all is good...  turnes out.. not that easy apparently ^^

So, just to be clear..  first cable that goes into the switch is the cable coming from the router -  second cable goes into my work PC and third is going into my normal PC.

While it is all good on my normal PC - i do have a 250 mbit Download rate which is what it is suppose to be - i only get a 10 mbit download rate on my work PC.

i tried diffrend plug in spots and tried diffrend cables... i thought maybe the one that comes with the switch issnt a CAT 6 or what ever is needed to go higher then 10 mbits..

What makes it odd is that when i test the connection speed - it says that i only have a set contract for 10 mbits like its suppose to be that slow.. which issnt the case.. so i guess its the box that sets it to 10 mbits..   but why?  how do i change it so it can run full speed?

thx for the help!

  @JustaCostumer

Hey

The first thing i would do is check in windows what your LAN connection speed is, this should also appear on the switch itself as a coloured LED.

The reason i say this is LAN speeds are 10 / 100 and 1000   as you are getting 10, its possibly a cable causing it.  Check on the router interface and see what speed it is reporting, ideally this should be 1000

  @Philbert

Should also add, to check what cable you have it should be written on the cable.  It will say something like Category 5e or CAT6 etc etc.

What you are looking for is 5e or newer as this will support 1000mbps connections
