Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.1.1 Build 20210723 Rel.64608

I purchased this unit as a vpn server for my remote network to replace an aging asus that was currently managing my vpn. This unit has proven to be quite difficult to set up successfully as the vpn, once configured. will connect but fails to route any traffic to the lan.

Multiple configurations end up with the same result, a failed vpn route.

Although the asus is much easier to manage, I'm reluctant to pull the ER605 offline and replace it with my asus but, might not have a choice if I can't get it to a functional state,as I use the vpn to manage all my backup images, both remotely and on my local lan.

The asus and an even older sonicwall vpn router were much easier to configure and manage.

I find the ER605 interface confusing and difficult.

@KS10

Just to confirm.
What kind of VPN are you setting up?(PPTP, L2TP, LAN-LAN IPsec or something like this ?)
Does it show the tunnel on this ER605 after you set it up?

@Virgo

It is a PPTP connection that I am able to connect to from the remote machine.

I'm pulling an internal IP that is configured in the VPN scope.

The tunnel does show up on the ER605 once configured.

@KS10

Is there another NAT device on the front of your ER605?
Is the WAN IP of your ER605 a public IP?

Here is an article you can refer to:

@Virgo

Thank you for the response.

There is no front end NAT device on the WAN side of the router.

The WAN does indeed have a public IP.

Dear @KS10,

I'd highly suggest you follow the FAQ below and see if it helps.

What to do if you cannot access the remote network through Client-to-LAN/Site VPN tunnel
