Hello,

I just inherited

Nr 3 switches on the first floor: Nr 2 T1600G-52 + Nr 1 T1600G-28

Nr 3 switches on the second floor: Nr 1 T1600G-52 + Nr 1 T2600G-52+ Nr 1 T1600G-28

Nr 2 switches on the sixth floor: Nr 1 T2600G-52 + Nr 1 T1600G-52

I need to log inside those switches and see if they need updates and how they are configured, but I don't have the credentials.

For that reason I was wondering: is it possible to reset the switches, access them, and then see the configuration files they had before stored somewhere?

Kindest Regards.

Hello, I received no answers. In some switches from other brands, when you reset the switch, the switch load a default configuration file, and store the previous in a folder. Is it the same in those switches, or if I reset them I lose all configurations?

Right now it seems to me that I have to plug a pc in every port of the switch and guess how it was configured, and then reset it to have acces

Do you have a better solution or a best practice for those cases?

If you don't know and cannot get the login username and password for these switches, I'm afraid that the only way is to hard reset the switches to factory default settings and reconfigure them. So all the settings will be lost after a hard reset.

How to reset the switches:

  • For T1600 series switches, use a pin to press and hold the reset hole for about 8 seconds until all the LEDs flash once.
  • For T2600 series switches, there is no reset button, we can only reset by Console port via a serial cable.
