Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.0 Build 20200904 Rel.70748

I have a TL-R600VPN running as my wan gateway with a pair of vlans.  Both of them have access to the wan port and all clients connected to the vlans are able to access the internet and are isolated from each other as they should be.  Doing the exact same configuration on the TL-R605 does not work.  The minute I assign a port to another vlan (other than vlan id 1), I lose internet connectivity on that vlan.  Is there something I'm missing?

My firmware version is also different than the one on the site, as mine is 20200904 and the one on the site is 20200930, but my firmware's release number is higher than the one on the site, should I flash the firmware to the one on the site?

In the future firmware updates on the R605 (and ER7206), it will support Layer2 VLAN and you won't have such issue.

Update:

New firmware will be released on R605 (and ER7206) by the end of May 2021. After upgrading the new firmware, you will be able to create different VLANs and assign different IP subnets for the LAN ports on the R605 (and ER7206) in standalone mode (without using Omada Controller).

Please pay attention to the TP-Link official website for the new firmware update:

https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/download/er605/#Firmware

Any news about this? We are about to get in the last quarter of June...

I also need DHCP on VLANs.

Sorry for any inconvenience caused. The ER605/ER7206 firmware 1.1.0 has been temporarily withdrawn from the TP-Link official website, notified here.

If you cannot wait to use layer2 VLAN, you can use the following beta firmware first.

ER605: ER605(UN)_V1_1.1.0_20210531(Beta)
ER7206: ER7206(UN)_V1_1.1.0_20210531(Beta)

Update on August 16, 2021:

The new firmware 1.1.1 has been released last week, please visit the official website for an upgrade, or follow the post below:

[New Firmware] The firmware v1.1.1 has been released for both ER605 and ER7206 by August 9, 2021

Unlike the TL-R600VPN router, the current R605 (and ER7206) doesn't support Layer2 VLAN, devices can only obtain IP addresses from R605 on the default VLAN1 when it's working in Standalone mode.

So if you create different VLANs for the LAN ports on the standalone R605, devices not in VLAN1 may be unable to obtain IP addresses and access the Internet.

If you want to create different VLANs and assign different IP subnets for the LAN ports on the R605, you may use Omada Controller to manage and configure the R605, with which you can create VLAN interfaces and configure the IP subnets accordingly.

@Fae

Hi, Maybe you know more about this actualization, or have got newer version of beta firmware.

It is safe to use it on TL-R605 V1?

Is the firmware shared safe to use and is the the latest beta?

Thanks in advance
