Hello guys,

This is my first post and I'm pretty new to the wolrd of networking. I don't know if this subject is in an other topics but I did not find one. Also, english isn't my first language but i'll try my best to make you understand my problems.

First of all, I have a T1600G-28TS connected on a Archer C7 router, wich is connected to the modem. I'm trying to access the SmartSwitch(T1600G-28TS)  web interface (I know it has one), but when I enter the default ip address (192.168.0.1), it brings me to the Archer C7 web interface.

So I tought the Archer C7 gave a different IP address to the SmartSwitch via DHCP server. I search the SmartSwitch IP address on the Archer C7 web interface but it isn't  there.

I have a TP-link range extender too, and I see it in the Archer C7 web interface and I can access the range extender web interface if I copy/paste his IP address in a web browser. If I was able to do the same thing with the SmartSwitch it would probably works but I can't find his IP address anywhere.(I tried an IP scanner)

You can ask for more information i'll do my best to answer as quick as possible.

Thank you for your help

Hi Nash

Welcome to the wolrd of networking.

Archer C7 and T1600G-28TS both use 192.168.0.1 as default IP address. You need to change the IP address for one of the devices. I think you can remove T1600G-28TS from the network at first and only connect one PC to T1600G-28TS. Then set up the static IP address like 192.168.0.2 for the PC. Then use the PC to access 192.168.0.1. You should be able to access the management web of T1600G-28TS. Then change the IP address for T1600G-28TS. You shold change this on L3 inteface. After change the IP address, you can connect the T1600G-28TS back to the network. And use 192.168.0.1 to access Archer C7, use the IP address you set to access T1600G-28TS.

Thank you for the answer.

I changed the Archer C7 IP to 192.168.0.2 but T1600G-28TS is still invisible in the network. I tried to remove the T1600G-28TS from the network but I cannot access it management web when it is directly connected to the modem.

Does I need to isolate the T1600G-28TS (0 connection except my PC) and can T1600G-28TS act like a passive switch because there is already a router in the network?

Hi Nash

You need to isolate the T1600G-28TS (0 connection except my PC), then reset your switch and use your PC to access the management web of T1600G. Your PC should use the static IP address and in the subnet of 192.168.0.0/24.

When you access the management web, you can change the IP address of T1600G to static IP address which other devices will not use. Or use dynamic IP address for T1600G, then you need to check the IP address for T1600 on Archer C7.
