I purchased a WA7210N in order to increase wifi signal strength to some outdoor wifi cameras. The 7210 is set to AP mode. The cameras work fine on other networks, but they do not see the 7210's network. Other wifi devices (for example, iPhones) see the 7210 and work well. In summary, the cameras (Foscam 8906's) work with other networks, but don't even see the 7210's SSID in order to try to connect. The 7210 works with other wifi devices but not the cameras. Any ideas? I have tried various security options, SSID names, power levels, physical locations, etc. When I ask the cameras to scan for networks, they find all my neighbors but never find the 7210's SSID.

Does the camera works on 5GHz frequency segment?
The horizontal beamwidth of 7210 is 60 degree, so you have to face it to the camera.

Which channel is set on the 7210n? Some devices for US market can't work with channel 12 and 13.

The cameras are 2.4 and the 7210 is aiming at them. I can stand right next to the cameras and get a strong signal from the 7210 on my phone. But the cameras don't even see the 7210.

I have tried various channels plus auto. Nothing seems to work.

Seems strange, can you show some screen shots about this, both on 7210 and your IP camera? Still guess you have a wrong configuration...

Actually, I'm not sure what screen shots you would like to see. The cameras wifi screen lets you scan for nearby networks, but only displays a few lines at a time in a small window. You need to scroll down through all 40 or 50 available networks to see that the 7210n's isn't one of them.

Regardless, I have managed to fix the problem. I downloaded and installed new firmware for cameras and now everything is working as expected. Either they fixed something recently or doing the full reset needed to install the firmware fixed an issue in RAM. I had avoided a reset to factory default setting because I would have had to uninstall the cameras from their weather resistant locations in order to connect an Ethernet cable. The update "remembered" the wifi settings so none of that was necessary.

Thanks to all for your help. Knowing it wasn't a symptom you had seen before set me on the correct path.
