Main AP will not connect to Sub AP on site after connecting ok during initial setup
Sunday
Model: EAP211-Bridge KIT
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

After initial setup of the EAP211 in standalone mode where both AP's are recognised and connected, they will not connect to each other when mounted in place.

I was able to connect to the Sub AP WiFi SSID and get internet ok in the office during setup with the devices 1 meter apart.

But once they are mounted they lose contact

The Main AP shows 'isolated' status in the app and no sign of the Sub AP. Lights on the AP are Power Green, LAN1 Green and Signal 3 Greens.

The Sub AP is powered on ok and I can connect to its SSID but no internet available. Lights on the AP are Power Green and Signal 3 Greens.

They are situated 45 meters apart, with no obstacles between them, on roof top poles.

Am I missing something during setup?

There is a symbol on the Sub AP in the app which there is no reference to anywhere that I can find , an amber ((-D symbol? No idea what it means.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi  @Jimbozzz

Is the main AP connected to a router? Please check if the ethernet cable is plugged tightly.

Could you please share a screenshot of this?

Yes, the main AP is connected to the router, I can connect to the Main AP wifi and get internet connection normally.

Attached screenshot of the unknown symbol

Hi  @Jimbozzz

Sorry for the late reply.

We were trying to figure out what's the symbol mean but we haven't seen this symbol before.

This symbol seems a bit inconsistent with the controller's interface, and we shouldn't have this type of symbol symbol. May I ask if you drew it yourself, or is it displayed by some other application? Would you please share a screenshot showing the complete Device page of the controller?

BTW, did you try to factory reset the EAP units and reconfigure them from the scratch?

  @Vincent-TP

Hi @Vincent-TP

I now have the system working properly but that symbol is still there.

For your info, I did factory reset and start again initially and it still did not work after the reset.

Today I tried again and initially both AP's were showing as separate Master AP's.

I put the units closer together and they connected properly as Main and Sub AP.

I then moved them apart in stages and reconnected each time, they are now in position and working as advertised.

I have no idea why they didn't work the first time because they were connected as Main and Sub before I first put them in place but when powered up they would not reconnect.

Regards

Jim
