Model: OC300
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.26.6 Build 20241101 Rel.41385

Hello Community,

I'm facing an issue with restoring a configuration backup from my Omada Web Controller (v5.15.6.60) to my new OC300 Hardware Controller. Despite updating the OC300 to the latest available firmware (v1.26.6 Build 20241101 Rel.41385), I still receive the following error during the restore process:

"The imported file comes from the Omada Controller with a higher version, which is incompatible with the current controller."

My Setup:

  • Omada Web Controller: v5.15.6.60
  • OC300 Hardware Controller: Firmware v1.26.6 Build 20241101 Rel.41385
  • I’ve confirmed that both controllers are on their respective latest versions (as of November 2024).
  • The backup file was created on the Omada Web Controller and downloaded via the Cloud Backup feature.

My Questions:

  1. Is there a workaround to restore a backup file created on a newer Omada Web Controller to the OC300?
  2. Are there any plans to release a firmware update for the OC300 that aligns with v5.15.6.60 or later?
  3. Has anyone successfully resolved this issue with a similar setup? If so, how?
  4. Would downgrading my Omada Web Controller be a viable option, and if yes, what are the risks involved?

I want to avoid having to manually reconfigure the OC300 due to the time and effort it would take. Any insights, advice, or guidance from the community would be greatly appreciated!

Additional Information:

  • The OC300 is connected to a TL-SG3428X switch.
  • The network includes five managed devices, including multiple EAPs and the switch itself.
  • All devices are currently managed by the Omada Web Controller, and my goal is to migrate them to the OC300 seamlessly.

Looking forward to hearing from anyone who has faced (and hopefully resolved) this issue or can provide guidance. Thank you in advance for your help!

to do restore the controller version must match these octets, the last octet may be different

it is only possible to restore to the same version or 5.15.6.xx in your case

you can't restore until the controllers are on the same version, when you get the update for your OC300 I don't know, I don't think TP-Link knows either

But in the meantime, you can install an early version on a Windows PC or a Linux PC.

Thanks, it's clear. I will be able to perform this once TP-Link updates the current OC300 firmware. So keep waiting till it's updated.
