Clarification needed on regional codes
In these forums, I keep reading that it's recommended to buy only devices with regional codes that match the user's country to avoid "unforeseeable compatibility problems."
I recently bought a C425 camera, a C520WS/A camera, and a Smart Switch S200D from Amazon JAPAN (I live in Japan), and here’s what I’ve found:
C425: EU version
C520WS/A: JAPAN version
S200D: US version
So, while Support keeps advising us to buy products with our own country regional code, Sales seems to hold a different opinion. I’ll reach out to TP-Link Japan with the same question and will share their response here, if I receive one.
In any case, it seems that (in my case at least) the above three devices are working fine even if there is a mix of regional codes.
UPDATE: TP-Link Japan has just replied saying that they didn't have the time to print the correct regional code on the device boxes yet, but the devices themselves are actually intended for use in Japan. While this reply seems convincing, I wonder what it takes to print and affix the correct label, since device model and S/N are printed on a small adhesive label, which is then affixed to the box.)
By the way, I'm also using a H200 hub that I bought on Amazon US and arrived directly from the US, since it's not available for purchase in Japan. Despite all warnings, it's working just fine with the other devices that I bought in Japan.
