Model: TL-SG3452XP
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 2.20.3 and newer

Hello,

we updated our SG3452XP v2.20 from Firmware 2.20.1 to a newer Version.

There are two available:

2.20.3

2.20.4

We tested both and had network Problems.

The switch is managed by Omada Hardware controller.

Problem was that the 10 Gigabit Pibre Ports (direct Attached cable from TP-Link) which are connected to Firewall and other Switches, are going down and up.
The Port change is so quick that there is no protocol entry on the omada device. So the Port is going down and 1-2 seconds later he is up again.

This causes that RDP-Sessions or application connections on the PCs will disconnect. This happens at different times of the day and I can not actively provoke it.

The Port with most Problems has multiple VLANs configured

Goging back to Firmware 2.20.1 fixed the Problem. So there is a Problem with the Firmware

2.20.3

AND

2.20.4

Please take a look and fix it.

Hi @PROXYTEC

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

It quickly disconnects and gets back? How do you know that it is the port disconnects and gets back?

DAC is from us, what's the model number? What's the other switch involved in this disconnection?

Manually set the ports for the DAC to acceptable link speed. Will this persist?

@Clive_A very simple. We have a Firewall connected to the 10 Gigabit SFP+ Ports and we can see in the realtime Log, that the Port 49 on switch SG3452XP V2 goes down and after 1-2 seconds up. If we are lucky we can see ist also in the webinterface from omada hardware controller that te port is not blue anymore. All traffic from VLAN to VLAN oder VLAN to LAN has to go through the Firewall.

Take a look at the network diagram.

The Other Switch is a SG3452X v1.20 with Firmware 1.20.2

Also metioned the Switch with the problems is a SG3452XP v2.20 with firmware 2.20.1 working fine. Just 2.20.3 and 2.20.4 has problems.

First we checked the Firewall if there is any problem but there is everything ok. Then we knew there was a Firmware update on the switch. We went back to 2.20.1 and the port is not going down anymore. So the problem has to be on the switch site.

Used DAC are

SM5220-3M(TL-SM5220-3M)

SM5220-1M(TL-SM5220-1M)

I can test on the weekend to update the switch to 2.20.4 and set the port to 10 Gigabit manual.

We are not available on weekends.

So in the diagram, you have used four SFP+. All of them are 10Gbps. If you remove them and use two out of four ports, does this problem still exist?

Does this happen to 4 SFP+ ports randomly? Or is it just, only one switch, its #49 that disconnects?

  @Clive_A

Hello, we did some test. First I have to Update the network diagram for you.

I have not mentioned another switch (TL-SG3210XHP-M2 v2.0) connected on Port 52 connected over 10 Gigabit Ethernet SM5310-T(TL-SM5310-T).

The Tests:

We disconnected the switch (TL-SG3210XHP-M2 v2.0) from Port 52 and Updated the SG3452XP v2.20 from Version 2.20.1.to 2.20.4.

We switched the DAC Conncetion between the Firewall and the SG3452XP v2.20 from Port 49 to 52.

Everything worked fine and no connection problems.

We thought that this could be a problem only with Port 49.

So next step we switched the cable from Port 52 back to 49. Also everything fine and no connection Problems.

Today we connected the (TL-SG3210XHP-M2 v2.0) back to Port 52 and same Problem occured. I have also set the link speed manual to 10 Gigabit Full Duplex

on both switches. I also set the connection down to 1 Gigabit Full Duplex on both switches to see if there is a Problem.

I can see on the firewall that Port 49 will go down and up:

"Sending IF link event for interface link DOWN"

"Sending IF link event for interface link UP"

The other Ports 50,51,52 I can not see because there are not connected to the firewall directly and the omada logs do not show me any ports which are goging offline and online again. So I can not verify that Port 49 is the only one going down and up again.

If I disconnect the (TL-SG3210XHP-M2 v2.0) from the SG3452XP v2.20. The SG3452XP v2.20 works fine.

 Hi, litte Update here.

I disconnected Switch (TL-SG3210XHP-M2 v2.0) on Port 52. No Problem anymore.

Connectd it back. -> Problem. 10 Gigabit Ports going down and up.

I downgraded to Firmware 2.20.1 -> No Problem when Switch (TL-SG3210XHP-M2 v2.0) is connected on Port 52.
