Model: ER605 (TL-R605)
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version:
Failover only works when you turn off one of the devices, but not when one of the internet goes down. Companies that provide internet come with a GPON and a router. When the fiber signal in GPON drops, the tp-link router does not activate the backup link, as it identifies that the device is still connected. If I physically turn it off then yes it activates the backup link. Is there any configuration to resolve this?

Remembering that this also happens with other models such as the TL-ER7206.

Thanks in advance for your attention!!!

Hi @Paulo_Beeny

Thanks for posting in our business forum.

Explained in this KB: Common Questions About the Load Balancing, Link Backup(Failover) & Online Detection

Note that online detection is based on the reply. As long as the WAN can get the DNS query out and got replied, it'll be considered as online. Regardless of your speed or other problems.

Goodnight!
It worked, that was all.

Now on the Tl-470+ there is no such option, below are the images of how it is configured and what is needed for the failover to work?

On the 470 there is no online detection tab

That's an update of the software. It becomes more accurate by analyzing the DNS query.

Mostly, the Internet would be down along with the DNS server stops responding the queries.
