I think no WiFi 6 access points have standalone mesh,
I'm not even sure if it ever will.
If you are going to use these in mesh, you will probably have to set up a controller.

Wow, I was really not sure if I should buy the EAP653 or Ubiquiti U6+

But my EAP245 worked really well so I picked TP-Link again.

Maybe a mistake.

I'll try to get a used Raspberry Pi and set up the Omada Software Controller on this to get the EAP653 working.

Unifi have no standalone at all except very little functionality va unifi app. On your phone   

Raspberry is a nice device an run controller fine. Do not use rpi3 use 4 or 5. I think 5 is the best choice i think the price is about the same. 

Used is probably only 4.

I now run a Raspi 1 with just Pihole.

But it doesn't support 64bit.

I can get a cheap Raspi 3b. It should work fine with Pihole and Omada Controller.

I used a rasberry pi 3 a long time ago for Omada, it worked but it only has 1gb of ram so I had to create a 1gw swapp file, it then became very slow as a lot was on swapp, I would recommend a rasperry pi 4 with at least 2gb ram.

if you are going to use pihole and perhaps other applications, a Rapsberry PI3 is too weak in my opinion

As far as I know, the models which support standalone mesh are EAP245 v3, EAP245 v4, EAP610 v3, EAP613 v1, EAP620 HD v3, EAP650 v1 

And more Wifi 6 models will support it in near future, for example, we are testing EAP673-Extender recently, and once it pass all testing, it will be published soon.

afaik the EAP650 = EAP653 with power supply

@MR.S I'll just test it with the Raspi 3b. I can get one so cheap it's a no brainer. If it is too slow, I'll pick up a Raspi 4. Thx
