Model: EAP610
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.3.2 Build 20230414

I am seeking assistance to address a persistent issue related to my Access Points in a complex network scenario. Here is the setup:

  • A router from the service provider connected to the WAN port of an ER605 router.
  • A TL-SG2210MP switch.
  • Seven EAP610 Access Points, with three connected via POE to the TL-SG2210MP and the others through MESH.

The complication arises when there is a power outage. All EAP610s not connected via POE are disconnected and require a physical reset. This situation becomes problematic, especially because physical access during these interruptions is challenging.

My questions:

  1. Is there a solution to prevent the disconnection of EAP610s not connected via POE during power outages?
  2. Are there specific settings that can be adjusted to better handle this issue?

Did you enable Auto failover?

There is a new beta firmware you can give it a shot if you want.

Following @Virgo recommendation, I upgraded the firmware on two EAPs while keeping one without the update. After conducting thorough tests, I found that the firmware upgrade effectively resolved my issue.

Yes, Auto Failover is enabled! I have reactivated it, but the issue persists.

Is it possible that the mesh AP and root AP are a bit far apart and what is the signal strength of the mesh AP?
Generally speaking, mesh AP needs to wait for some time to connect to the root AP after powering up, observe for some time to see if it will reconnect.
If you just re-adopt mesh AP, can' it solve the problem? Do you have to reset?

How are you powering the meshed units?  Please make sure that there is no valid ethernet link present on the meshed AP port (ie don't use a cheap POE switch to power these units, instead use POE injectors or if you must use a POE switch, then break the etherlink by chopping out a datapair on the cable (ie disconnect pins 1 & 2).  It seems counterintuitive but meshed APs come back online a lot quicker if they cannot find an active wired link.

This should maybe be a feature request for mesh capable APs.  Add aconfig option to Prefer Mesh or Prefer Wired on restart.

Another suggestion, maybe the channel has changed caused the mesh AP can not reconnect. Tried put the root AP fixed on the Band1/Band4.
