My access point is connected in front of a layer 3 switch.
When I try to ping a VLAN interface from my client, I get "no route to host". However, if I explicitly specify my source IP when pinging, the ping works. It seems that the AP does not pass on the source IP of the client. Is this a configuration error?
Are you saying the AP is on the WAN side of the router (in front), if so then that's pretty normal behaviour...though I'm curious how the AP and wireless clients are assigned addresses in that case.
If you are saying the AP is on a LAN port, and clients attached to the AP cannot ping a local VPN endpoint then that sounds more like a misconfig somewhere...probably something to do with L2/L3, the fact that the AP is acting like an L2 switch in this case, and may not forward ARPs correctly...or something that somehow prevents the router from understanding which port to forward a response packet to your client through.
A little more detail on your setup would help understand what's going on a bit better.
