Hello, i am pretty new to the Omada SDN concept. I installed a Debian 10 with Omada SDN 5.9.17, which is runnung so far. The Machine is running with VMWare ESXi 7.0.

Is it possible to run the DHCP server of OSDN with different VLANs on a VM ? Or do i have to use an external DHCP server ?

Thanks

Ralf

  Hi,@rhs67

You don't need to use an external DHCP server, but given the Omada SDN controller does not provide a DHCP function itself (usually provided by the Omada hardware like gateways) , you will need some DHCP in your setup. Whether that's on a VM, an Omada Gateway or another device is up to you and your specific needs.

  @rhs67

For curiosity's sake:

What are/were the main hurdles that prevent from installing on Debian 11 or 12 ?

Have you compared running on a VM with an OC200 or OC300 controller ?

Just to throw things in a different direction...I'm a big fan of running the Omada controller in a Docker container instead of full VM.
