ER605 V2 vs ER7206
Hi,
I need a dual WAN router to set up a fail-safe network. I don't care 4g/3g. I have Fios and Xfinity, both 500Mbit. I want to be sure that the router can use full capacity of them.
Which one is better/stronger/robust for my purposes? The newer ER605 or ER7206?
Thanks

Agreed, but if he isn't doing VPNs then does he need the horsepower or would he rather save the cash?

@d0ugmac1 and @KimcheeGUN
So, both of you say that 7206 is more powerful? Then I'll go with it.
Do you know what are the CPU and RAM specs of both devices? Why TP-Link is not publishing while the other brands are publishing?
I'm looking for a router below $200. Do you recommend any better one? High availability is my first target.
Thanks

Hopefully someone can correct me if I am wrong, but both use a MediaTek 7621AT. The ER7206 just had double the RAM compared to the ER605 V2. Personally, in your case, I'd go with the ER605.

Thanks @Hemicrusher that's exactly my point. They are functionally almost identical, and unless you're doing a lot of packet encapsulation (read this as more than 750Mbps of continuous encapsulated traffic, or tunnels to more than a dozen sites) the ER650 will suffice performance-wise. Check the Performance and VPN stats in the below comparison link for details...but IMHO it's marginal and not worth the 250% premium (based on Amazon.ca) for the ER7206

Make sure you can receive an ER605 V2.
Many people are asking for ER605 V1 firmware update, although ER605 V2 and ER7206 already received the update more than one month..

It looks like ER605 v2 is a better choice for me. And I don't understand who buys er7206 ($150) if the same power is selling for $60. Is SFP feature the reason?
Thanks

For me it was exactly the missing SFP option of ER605 V2 so I went for ER7206 and I'm super happy with it.
Was chasing quite some time to get it cheap - and I shot it on Amazon Prime Day 😊
