Model: OC300
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.7.1 Build 20220112 Rel.64791

Hi

I'm currently testing and OC300 with some EAP225 APs before installing on project.

In my test setup I have:

3rd Party Router (Ubiquiti UDM pro)

       |
3rd Party Switch (Ubiquiti switch)
       |

OC300               EAP225

The OC300 is getting a DHCP address from the UDM however when the OC300 is online I can not see the EAP225 listed with and IP on the UDM even when it has the IP in the same DHCP range handled by the UDM, the EAP225 is set to use DHCP.  If the OC300 is offline then the EAP appears in the DHCP list on the UDM with the same address as was previously showing in on the OC300.

**** This is solved now *****

There is no issue with DHCP,  it seems that when there is no traffic going to the EAP it drops of the list on the UDM,   power saving maybe?

A couple more questions:

Are there any limits on the amount of WLAN groups you can have on an OC300?
Reason I ask this is I'm installing 74 access points and each will be on it's own VLAN.

How reliable are the updates on the EAP's?  do they ever cause issues?
I'm just wondering if it's worth having them run auto updates or not.

Thanks

Ash

  @Ash77

I do not suggest you run full auto on EAP or any devices. I am not saying that Omada is not reliable. Everyone makes mistakes. Even Apple can have bugs on every upgrade of their system.

Just don't let the device upgrade when there is a firmware release. For the best, you'd better check out the forum or look up the version before you upgrade them.

As far as I know, EAP225 is stable with the recent firmware upgrades.

For the WLAN group, 500.

Regarding the EAP is off from the DHCP list, I think there is no such thing about power saving. There is a power saving for WiFi clients. But the AP actually never goes into a power saving mode.

  @John1234 Thanks for yoru reply,  I was thinking that would be best anyway with this number of APs,   I not that familiar with this kit but with stock shortages everywhere buying large numbers of APs if proving fun :)

500 WLAN is plenty I'll only ever need a max of around 150,  it seems the best way to set AP's up for each VLAN unless I've missed something with the controller.

Odd with the DHCP thing then,   it seems to just not to show on the DHCP list but then appears when you start using the AP,  it is getting the IP from the UDM but just not showing it all the time.  Not seen this behavior before but wil test further when I have the netgate firewall configured that's being used with this install.

  @Ash77

If you plan to place an order for dozens of APs, I think it is better to contact the support or sales team according to your need. For customers in the US, you can email the sales department if you tend to place a large order. https://www.tp-link.com/us/about-us/contact/

If not in the US, you can go to the official website and check out the sales contact info.
