Its incredible this is not a feature. I have shared cameras in key locations but cant have a private conversation anywhere near them.
Edit: Also made an account just to complain. Come on Tp-link!

I agree that we need to have an option to disable mic. For now, I just taped the mic hole on my C510W to at least reduce the audio quality it receives.
TP-Link is not user friendly. Imagine their C510W version 1 had 4 video quality options(360p, 720p, 1080p, 2k) and I bought another C510W which is version 2 but it only has 2 video quality options(720p, 2k). Seems like their latest versions of CCTV are lower quality than the previous versions.

Absolutely ridiculous that TP-Link and Tapo have not made a privacy feature to disable microphone control for shared devices. It doesn't even require hardware changes, only software, but Tapo refuses to listen to the 5 page thread of numerous people asking for the same thing.
I'm now in the process of disassembling the C210 camera to unplug or desolder the microphone from the chipset. I don't know which one it is yet. I will hopefully update in the near future.

@JasonBrown was it easy to disability the microphone by opening the camera? Did you just unsoldered it?
I would really appreciate a software solution for this.
But TP link just ignores it's customers
