Model: EAP225-Wall
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 5.0.2 Build 20210316 Rel. 67337

Hello,

From what I can tell from the datasheet I should be able to setup and create a mesh network with these AP's.  I have mesh enabled in my controller and my AP's adopted and connected.  Here are the details:

Model:

EAP225-Wall(US) v2.0

Firmware Version:

5.0.2 Build 20210316 Rel. 67337

Controller Version:

4.3.5

Model:

OC300 1.0

Firmware Version:

1.1.0 Build 20210406 Rel.58776

Do I need a different firmware to do this?  If not then what do I need to do?

Thanks,

Stephen

Agree with @Philbert . EAP's mesh function is to help us deploy EAPs wirelessly. While wall edition of APs usually don't have POE injectors for power supply, that is, you have to use a cable to connect the wall AP to a POE switch to get power over Ethernet. In this case, mesh makes no sense to wall edition.

But I think you should distinguish mesh and fast roaming, which I think you actually need ( I also mixed them before lol)

Hey

I may be incorrect in saying this as I haven't personally tested it, but fairly sure the WALL edition of APs do not support Mesh, simply by design.  Wall editions are designed for a single room in a hotel, or a dormitory and therefore do not have certain features that the standard APs do.  One of these is Fast Roaming and I'm pretty sure Mesh is another.   Being a wall mounted AP its expected this is cabled in some way.

The EAP225 245 and 265  standard ceiling mounted APs all support the Mesh feature.

Thanks for the replies.   It looks like I was a little confused as well.  Fast Roaming was actually what I was in need of.   This option is disabled by default and under Advanced Features.

@Stephen2021

Wall editions don't support fast roaming either. Even if you enable this feature, I think it won't take effect on wall AP.

Hi Somnus,

Roaming does seem to be working for me though:

Hey

Its likely that Roaming is working, however Fast and Seamless roaming isn't due to support

The controller will try to roam you if enabled and it feels it can do so, however the wall editions don't support seamless roaming and therefore the connection will likely be reset / dropped during the AP handover.   This may not be an issue for you unless you are on a VPN or require the seamless handover.
