IOS Devices dropping connection
IOS Devices dropping connection
Hi,
We have just setup a Hotel Wifi system but iOS devices seem to be dropping signal. So they connect to the Open wifi - click the login button and then its all OK - if iddle for 1-2mins it drops the wifi.
Only happening on iOS Android and Windows fine.
Its a OCS 200 with EAP 115's and 225's
Anyone had anything like this happen?

So you have a SSID with no auth and a portal with no auth and the ipad stays connected?
Is it an out of the box setup?

Hi All,
UPDATE: Did a Network Settings Reset on both iPhone and iPad and it is now holding a stable connection. Seems to be an iOS thing.

It is hit and miss. Seems worse on an open connection. A SSID with security seems ok.
If you Google it though seems to be a common issue Same behaviour on Unifi access point

I have the same problem, last week I installed a network with 10 antennas EAP225 V3 firmware 2.4.0 Build 20181121 Rel. 55897 Omada 3.0.2, I have on average approximately 44 connected devices, IphoneX, Iphone 10, Iphone 8, Ipad Pro, Ipad Mini, Macbook and etc ... and the network disconnects and reconnects only after I open the screen, but in samsung, dell and etc ... it works normally, I disabled the functions, enabled the functions on demand and the problem persists, I do not know anymore what to do, I'm thinking of doing a downgrade of the firmware to see be resolves. If anyone has a tip, I will thank you very much.

Hello all,
We had this issue across multiple sites and using different types of APs.
The main issue is with how the IOS handles the battery saving features.
The solution that worked with us was to :
1) Make sure on the ios device "auto login" is enabled on our SSID
2) Open the WiFi and close the 3g/4g
3) Restart the IOS device
4) Once it is up, keep pressing the home button plus the power button till you have the apple logo.

@HeadwayTech Do you mean dropping the wi-fi connection? In this case, you could try the following tips.
1. Force restart your iOS device.
2. Reset network settings by going to Settings > General > Reset.
3. Use iOS system recovery tools such as TunesKit iOS System Repair to fix it without data loss and with almost 100% success rate.

in 2021 I had the same problem using OC200 and EAP225 (US) v3.0, in my case I have 4 EAP225, and clients using iOS constantly lost connection to Wireless.
After I read your answer, I changed the channel of my EAPs, and it seems to solve my problem, I put wireless 2.4Ghzs on channels (1,4,6,11) and wireless 5Ghzs on channels (35,40,44, 48) respectively.
My OC200 controller is at version 4.3.5 and my EAPs at version 5.0.5.
