I am trying to use this switch to control the fan speed on our ceiling fa. The switch works, but there is a loud buzzing the faster the fan goes. This doesn't happen when simply using the chain on the fan. Is there something I'm missing?

The HS220 is a dimmer switch instead of a fan switch, so it is not able to control the speed of the fan.

May I know what's the model of your fan? Using a device with power exceeding the switch's maximum capacity could lead to operational issues.
