I have used Kasa smart plugs for several years and just installed a smart light switch. When adding a device in the Kasa app, it tells you to switch to the TP-Link network, but that network isn't available as a choice for me to switch to. Looking for suggestions!

You could try to factory reset smart switch , the WiFI Led on switch will be flash orange and green, check in the phone Wi-Fi list,  it should broadcast 'TP-Link Smart switch XX ' SSID.  Then try to add kasa switch in the APP. 

How to reset TP-Link Kasa smart switch and plug?

 

Check on a different phone or mobile device and see if the default SSID shows up or not.
