I have two smart switches—an HS200 and an HS220—which keep losing connection. They are apparently trying to maintain a connection to my Amplifi Alien router which is 30 yards away and on other side of a concrete basement wall, rather than connect to the Alien mesh point which is literally 8 feet away. (The router and mesh point are connected via ethernet backbone.)

Any idea why these switches prefer the weaker router signal over the stronger mesh point? I have band steering on but router steering off.

For several years after installing the switches back in 2019 or so, everything worked perfectly. Then at some point there was an update—either Kasa firmware or perhaps Alien firmware—and now they won't stay connected for more than a few hours.
